(MapleStory) A lot of people try to complain, bring light to certain issues or try to make change to the game (as I am going to attempt to do), but at the same time, others, who often seem to just be immaturely flaming the point or trying to look cool by saying the same old lame comment. One of the phrases often used is "It's just a game.", implying that we should stop taking all the issues so seriously. I completely disagree with this apathetic view. Yes, Maple Story IS a game. However, to many of us, it's more than that. Maple Story is also a community and a hobby (yes, games are hobbies). A problem I've noticed, or more accurately the problem with the game we play and the community within it, is that the community simply doesn't care. The players don't care if people hack, scam, KS, glitch, insult other people based on race, religion or gender... so long as they can do whatever they want. The deplorable state of GMS stems from these lazy, selfish players who simply don't take anything seriously (unless, of course, if something bad happens to them... then they cry like they lost everything they own). It's high time that things change around here. People wonder why the other versions of MS have more events and that the GMs in those modes seem to be more active? It's because the players in the other versions of Maple Story take their game more seriously than players in Global! Korean gamers take their games very seriously, doing what they can to maintain the quality of what they're doing. For KMS, that means more active reporting of ToS violators and less immaturity within the community. Because of this, the GMs can get to the problems faster, not having to sift through mounds and mounds of junk. Not having to work as hard gives them more time to set up events and fun little things. There is evidence of this from the past. We used to have quite a lot of GM events a year or two ago... but back then, people cared more about Global and tried to report any hacker they saw, rather than just say that NEXON will do nothing and not bother. What can you do to help revitalize GMS? • Be courteous and respectful to your fellow players. • Report ANYONE who violates the Terms of Service, especially hackers, scammers and anyone who uses derrogatory terms for race, religion, preference or age • Give people advice, not insults. Be helpful! • Try to get your friends, BL, Guild and even complete strangers on Maple to try to do the same. Spread the word! Ladies and gentlemen, we need to change. Every little bit helps in this situation - even if a few change, the community can begin changing as well. The more people we can get to work on this, however, the better. Spread out, spread the word. Let's help fix this game!
