IWA Puerto Rico from 2001 to 2003 was on fire simply because the booking which was being handled behind the scenes by Dutch Mantel and the stories that he created meshed perfectly with the in ring action which resulted in an unprecedented run of sell out business all over the island of Puerto Rico. Smart marks in Puerto Rico hated Dutch because he wouldn't give them the time of day but there was no mistaking Dutch's success rate in PR. Dutch is responsible for the rejuvenation of the wrestling scene in Puerto Rico by booking such stars as Ray Gonzalez, Savio Vega, Jeff Jarrett, Shane the Glamor Boy, Apolo, Chicky Starr, Habana and Miguel Perez and creating new characters such as the Paparazzi, Abriela and Abyss. TV ratings on Channel 2 San Juan ranged anywhere from a 12 to a 15 and IWA's TV show played 2 hours on Saturday afternoon and 2 hours on Sunday afternoon. During that time, big show sellouts of 12 thousand plus were the norm instead of the rarity. Hard to believe but look at some of the LIVE EVENT crowds on this video. I can't make that up. Also since I'm a huge fan of the wrestling video genre...IWA Puerto Rico during that era produced some of the most provocative videos in the world. This is one of the videos that I consider one of wrestling's best of all time and that includes WWF/WWE. This video was produced by Hector "Moody" Melendez who apparently learned a lot from Mantel about relaying a story. This video is simply tremendous. You be the judge. Enjoy.
