When I moved to Rio, I started doing fashion," Designer Lenny Niemeyer says. Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro gets fitted in one of Lenny's stunning creations. "In Sao Paulo, the people are much more conservative," the designer says, "And when I changed, my job was difficult to be accepted here...All my friends were asking me, 'Lenny, please, bring some bikinis for us from Rio...I could not find...So I decided to redraw a bikini." What became just 30 pieces is now 30,000! Lenny celebrates her 20th anniversary with this Summer 2012 collection in Rio de Janeiro. When she started this, beachwear was the "underbra" of fashion, she describes. Watch as Lenny fits and fixes bathing suits on models Ribeiro and Ana Beatriz Barros to her liking. "She has the very chic part of Rio and she represents that here," says model Ana Claudia Michels. Her collection this season is very tropical, "something that I'm giving for Rio de Janeiro," Niemeyer says. She's looking back at the places that she passed on her travels, and Niemeyer makes sure to include it all, including snakes, hot prints, leaves, flowers, feathers, plisses, and architecture.
